Golf Course Superintendent - David Motes, Jr.

David is a native of Stauton, VA, ans after graduating high school he entered the U.S. Marine Corps.  He was based with an infantry unit out of Camp Lejune, NC, while with the Marines.  Upon leaving the Marines, David attended North Carolina State University.  He graduated with an Associates Degree in Turf Grass Management in 1998.
David's first position post graduation was as Assistant Superintendent/Interim Superintendent at Beau Rivage Plantation in Wilmington, NC.  The following year David accepted a position at Cape Fear Country Club, a Donald Ross design, and the oldest country club in North Carolina.  David was employed with Cape Fear for three years.  While there he served as the 2nd Assistant Superintendent, Spray Technician, and Irrigation Technician.  In 2003, he accepted an Assistant Superintendent position at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, SC, a Robert Trent Jones design.  While at The Dunes Club, under the supervision of Reese Jones, he aided in the total renovation of the irrigation system and playing greens.
After a one year lay off he accepted the position as the Assistant Superintendent here at Belvedere Country Club.  He was later offered and accepted the Superintendent position.  He has held this position since 2006.  David has been a great asset to Belvedere C.C. Since his arrival here.
David enjoys playing golf, watching NC State football, and cooking seafood.  He visits his father's Virginia farm any time he is able.  David is the proud father of son, Cherokee, and daughters Sophie and Jaylen.  David currently resides in Wilmington, NC.
